Seitai is based on viewing the human body as a living organism. This may seem obvious, but it is a very important perspective. In particular, Seitai is characterized by understanding everything as a form of movement.
Problems such as worries, anxiety, and overeating are each considered a unique form of movement—movement of worry, movement of anxiety, and movement of overeating. Worry constantly moves within the mind, often causing feelings of uncertainty or confusion. While most people think they are worried because they have a problem, Seitai views this as a movement of worry.
Anxiety creates tension in both the body and mind, affecting breathing and circulation. In the modern world, where people are constantly pressured by results and achievements, it’s as if they are always engaged in the movement of anxiety. Overeating stores excess energy in the body, burdening the digestive system. There are even videos online where people show themselves eating large quantities of food in a short time—this is like showcasing the movement of overeating.
We are always engaged in some form of movement. In Seitai, we observe these movements as part of a natural process.
Take the example of coldness: coldness is not just the phenomenon of lowered body temperature, but part of a process aimed at restoring balance by producing heat. When someone feels cold, their body generates heat. Most people know that when you catch a cold, it usually starts with feeling cold. Instead of continuously getting colder, the body will eventually produce symptoms such as coughing, a sore throat, and eventually a fever.
This natural reaction is to generate heat when you feel cold. Instead of trying to cure symptoms, it is important to let the process unfold. Illness is not just a disturbance or dysfunction, but part of the body’s natural recovery process. Seitai does not aim to eliminate illness, but to accept the natural flow of the process and let it pass, which helps activate the body’s and mind’s inherent healing power.
By observing this process and providing the necessary support, the body will naturally recover, regain balance, and become stronger. Seitai focuses not on eliminating symptoms or problems, but on drawing out the inherent strength within the body and mind. By creating an environment where everyone can fully express their healing abilities, people become stronger and move toward a more natural, healthy state.
